Light Amperage-2009 Precedent
Want to add 2 LED spots to my cart. It currently has a light kit on it from previous owner. Front light system is the one mounted over the bumper and uses filament bulbs. The tail lights are LED. There is 12V going to each of the bulbs in the front. Is there a voltage reducer somewhere? I only see wires connected to pack + and -. I want to determine amp output to decide whether to delete the filament bulbs and add the LED spots or if I can add the LED's to the existing front light circuit. At this point I only have a 10a multi meter and don't want to smoke it when I test it if there are higher amps on the circuit.
Thanks |

I put these LED bulbs in the standard front light kit.
Work great and are bright! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

Thanks Kashmir. Might use those but really want to add lights to my new safari bar.
Does anyone have the install sheet for these light systems so I can at least see how they are wired into the cart? |

Re: Light Amperage-2009 Precedent
The standard headlight bulbs are normally 37W so around 3 amps each. The led versions pull like a tenth of that so switching to those is not a bad thing.

Re: Light Amperage-2009 Precedent
Yes Thanks. I knew what the draws were, i was trying to find out what my system would supply. I did not see a reducer anywhere but knew only 12v were going to each light and all wires are on the pack and not to a single battery. I didn't want to disassemble the cart looking for the reducer either. So I took a shot in dark and connected it up and Bingo, the circuit handles the extra lights. The bride says it looks like a big smiley face when lit up but at least we can see at night now.

Re: Light Amperage-2009 Precedent
Is your cart 4/12's or 6/8's?
If it's 4/12's, chances are there is no converter and the lights are just hooked to a single battery. |
