Routing 2 AWG Cables
I have a 2000 1/2 Club Car DS. Installed new 2AWG today I did not route Neg cable through the hole in the yellow plastic where the the OEM cable was routed. I am concerned that may effect the OBC ?

Re: Routing 2 AWG Cables
It will... If you can't fit the cable through the hole you NEED to use a pass-through bolt such as one made from a 5/16" Brass Toilet Bowl Bolt. Without the cable passing through the hole the OBC can not figure out how much energy was used and thus will start short charging your batteries...

Re: Routing 2 AWG Cables
I may be able to pass the cable through the hole if I remove the terminal! I do not understand the use of the brass bolt. Would appreciate more detail.
Thanks for your prompt reply and info Ken |

I would not recommend using or charging cart til you get your OBC back online.

Re: Routing 2 AWG Cables
For now I am going to reinstall the 6AWG negative . Then learn how to install the stud. I would think you need to insulate both ends of the stud with rubber or nylon washers?

If you go the bolt route you can indeed insulate its length and use a rubber or plastic flat washer on each end to help stabilize and protect it... |

Re: Routing 2 AWG Cables
Just make sure You only have the 6ga cable in that case, disconnect the 2ga gauge.
Here is another picture of the assembly you need: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...g-obc-stud.jpgLowes carries the US-brass bolts and all of the other parts in their "bolt/nuts specialty aisle" , some toilet flange bolts are only plated, not true brass alloy. I used a battery boot on mine to isolate the end of the stud: |

Re: Routing 2 AWG Cables
You can do full usage, that small section of 6ga will not cause any performance issues at all.
