The 48V relay I used was this one, as suggested by Sergio ...

Here's a photo of my connections at the battery pack.

Thanks for all the input. After reading the reviews on Amazon, the previous post is right on about some of these units like I ordered either work great, work for a limited time or burnt out almost immediately. I was only looking to gain brighter lights. I have ordered two 12v cob led 889/881 bulbs to hopefully achieve this. If I decide to not use the reducer will the cob led's even run on 8v if I connect it the way it is now? I only use the headlights when I carry the cart to the beach where we have an rv and that's only about three times a year. This led technology is amazing and confusing at the same time.....

You need a 48-12 volt reducer.

the 12v cob led 889/881 bulbs do work at 8v but are best at 12v

Do they change light output with voltage?

I'd be more inclined to run the LEDs off 16V. Many LEDs are rated for 12-16V or you may also be able to get them that are actually rated at 16V. Either that or add a 12V battery that is dedicated to lights and other 12V accessories.

The bottom line though is that you will cause an imbalance and shorten the life of your pack if you run them on less than 48V. The pack is so expensive that the cost of the reducer becomes negligible.

I have had no problems with my cheap reducer so I think it is better to risk the reducer failing than to take the 100% guarantee that operating off one or two batteries in the pack will cause an imbalance.

I'll try the reducer that should be here first of the week along with the toggle switch that was ordered also. If it fails, then I'll go with 16v... Thanks guys!
