I only use Freedom and Mild Hill modes, so I put a SPST switch in the jumper between Pins 2 & 3 on a Freedom Chip. I just tie-wrapped the switch to on of the heavy cables, so I have to lift seat to change modes, but you can remote the added switch(es) and the Run/Tow switch to the dash or on the front of the battery compartment. (Note: You have to flip Run/Tow switch to Tow and return it to Run to get controller to change PDS modes) With two SPST switches, you can make all four modes selectable, or you can go with a rotary switch like Spawn and other have. Also, here is a chart showing the speed and regen levels for the four modes. |

Re: PDS Selectable Chip
Does anyone have a source to buy the plug needed for the controller side? I would love to be able to have all four modes using the two switch method.

Put into diagnostic mode and count the beeps that occur when it goes into that mode. The text at the bottom of attached label tells you how to get into diagnostic mode. If it is in "freedom" mode (four beeps), you should be getting about 23-24 MPH on hard level ground with 22" tires. If not, there is a problem, or are problems, with batteries, cables, connections, contacts, controller, ITS or motor. In other words, it the chip is good, everything else in the cart is suspect. |

Re: PDS Selectable Chip
My 07 with the speed chip, paved flat ground, and 20" tires goes about 20mph per my GPS. You should be getting close to that. 15 is more like the all terrain mode. Steep and Mild hill gets me about 17 and Regen braking depending on the mode the amount of Regen braking is more for steep than mild.

Re: PDS Selectable Chip
Well, this morning before coming into work, I did the diagnostic test... 4 beeps.... so I toggled to tow and then to run again. neut to rev 5 times... 4 beeps..... previously, when I tested the speed, a friend was following me in his truck and on the phone he said I was doing 15mph... time to get my gps out and run the roads again.... see what it says I'm doing...un less there is something else I could check???
