Another possible option would be to put a couple of pieces of 2X6s under the mat right in front of the ramp ends. Once in, it would be sitting on them and not the end of the ramp. Just a thought.

My problem would be solved if I can make a roof support for the cart that allows me to lower it like an ez up post with the pins. Anyone ever done that?

Sorry to thread jack toys...nice looking set up you have there.
I made some drop hinges for my roof during my roof mod .... pics are in this thread

There's a reason for that. Google "toyota tailgate failure". Apparently a common problem.

Here's a sample picture of what happens when you drive a golf cart on a Toyota tailgate:

WoW, wonder if a Ford tailgate would fit on that truck?

Hard to believe it busted like that!

That's funny because I've been loading and unloading motorcycles on my tailgate since I brought it in 2007 and never had an issue. And my buddy, who's truck is taller than mine has been hauling atv's since 2010 with his Tundra. We both use chains that connect the tailgate to the rear tie down hooks. But I like the tailgate brackets, they're a lot simpler.
