I had it connected to the wrong wire on the ignition switch. Corrected that and now it turns on/off with the key and it returns to the last reading when I turn the key on.

The original 'test meter' has been on since day one. The test cart has no roof and no shelter. Temps reach triple digits in the summer and freeze in the winter....not to mention winter rain and fog thick enough to cut with a knife.... So far so good but it's only been 4 years

ScottyB--wish I would've known about your website before I bought the bar meter. Would've much rather had the digital readout...guess I'll see if the bar meter works, if not, I'll be in touch.

Couldn't you run both the bar meter and a digital? I've got a digital one on mine but I'm thinking of installing a bar meter I have for the wife. She doesn't do digital well and the bar meter reads like a gas gauge and she understands that

Yep and excellent idea. You could put black tape over the first 1/2 of the bar meter and say " when this gets dark, come home" might get you beaten though.

I'll see if I can get an amp draw on mine

tried 2 different digital meters didn't show anything, guess it will take a more sensitive then mine.\ Personally I wouldn't worry about the amp draw

nicktony,

The answers are on the forum (but I don't remember where!)

1. Turning the meter off and on again resets it.
2. You can wire it to be on all the time with no discernible power consumption.

Hope this helps.
