I posted it before I realized it wasn't a Buy-it-now price. Oh well, we'll see that happens.

But what real use is there for it? I mean I have the largest motor available a GE D298 Raptor rated 10 HP continuous and 16 HP peak running a 48 volt setup.. Taking motor efficiency, peak HP the most in theory the motor can draw is 320 amps. I have a 400 amp controller, and have used a hall effect amp meter and the highest current I have ever seen is about 300 amps from a dead still stop to max acceleration, and it only lasted for a second or two.

It's used for golf carts with high performace motors! (and small EV's) Remember, not everyone has the same components as you. Theres a big difference between theoretical and real world. Many know what it will do with the correct motor. Theres lots of people running those and some even more than that. D&D uses and reccommends those exact controllers with their motor/controller combos. They wouldn't build them if there wasn't a use for them. There are cart controllers higher than 1000 amps!

Is that true...I didn't think the Raptor was the biggest/fastest motor out there...that's a speed motor right?

No, its not. It "might" be one of the largest mass produced motors on the market but there are other motors besides that one one. Please forgive him BRS, he's a newcomer.

OK what motor with a Dana 12 spine axel made to operate at 48 volts has a higher non peak and peak HP? I know there are larger motors made for NEV's and EV's, but unaware of any larger for a golf cart.

At 16 HP peak, 48 volts, 75% efficiency, locked rotor current, the max current the motor can draw is 330 amps. So a 400 amp controller is a good choice with feasible head room, and any more would be overkill.

Yes I may be a newcomer, but I do bring 30+ years of electrical engineering experience specializing in motors, controls, and battery plants along for the ride

It's not for a Dana H12 but the controller isn't either. 28 Peak HP. I believe it will fit carts like my melex. This thread isn't to discuss what will fit a Dana H12 or controller theory...its about a 650 amp alltrax on ebay I thought was a good deal and would pass along to the forum members.
