Default Higher Amperage Voltage Regulator

Hey gang,

I am in need of a voltage regulator for my 2002 Carryall, that can handle a higher amperage throughput.

Or - maybe one that has a higher duty cycle?

Here is the issue. I have a full strobe lightbar mounted to the roof of my cart. When I run it for longer periods of time (say 40+ minutes) it seems its frying the voltage regulator.

I am not sure if I am buying junk to begin with (although the first Stens I received from amazon was DOA), or of the small cube regulator just cant handle that kind of output for extended time?

I am looking for options. and I need to try to get something in place before Saturday AM for an event I am doing.

I am hoping that maybe there is a larger regulator that I can use, with minor wiring mods, that can handle the constant abuse I will be giving to it.

Thanks for any help!
Mike

It would help if we knew what the light bar data plate says for volts and amps.

Lightbar installation instructions say to use a 40 amp fuse... for all options.

I know I have run it on a 30 amp with no issue. I have no way of measuring amperage over 10 amps... so its hard to say for sure.

I also have to wonder if you might be able to convert the light bar to LED's which would draw far less power.

Actually, I already have - should have mentioned it. I have added 2 group 31 batteries under the seat, with a battery isolator.

I would, but its rather cost prohibitive.

How about using a separate deep cycle battery, and charge it after every event?

I've heard of adjustable voltage regulators, but they regulate the voltage, not the amperage.

I have started to consider that option...

I did find some external regulator options on the following site:

http://www.cpgenerator.com/voltageregulators.html

Either the first or third option.

Attached is the battery setup:

I should mention that the batteries in the picture are the aux batteries, starting battery is in stock location.
