Default 2001 club car super slow uphills

I just purchased a 48 volt club car, first purchase was new Trojan batteries. On flat ground it will do 11-12 mph. Going up hill even the smallest hill it losses a lot of power. Speed is around 5mph going uphill. I have racked my brain on what the issue could be if I have new batteries then what could the issue be? Thanks in advance

to BGW

We need to determine your drive system- do you have a small rocker switch for your FNR, or a lever that swings side to side?

If it's a series cart (with the lever), what you describe is common.

Also, new batteries need to be broken in to achieve full potential. See here for details: https://buggiesgonewild.com/attachme...2&d=1289853436

Typical sign of a series cart. They'll go forever and climb anything. Just not very fast.

My forward/reverse is located under right leg as a lever. So this is common for my type of cart. Wow it creeps up hills

Yep. It's typical. You can spend some $$$ and make it better. Look at my signature. It'll do about 15 uphill with 4 passengers. 24 on flat ground with just me.
