plastic patching?
OK i know i am a dumb a$$ but i was installing a diamond plate kick plate, and the top corners stuck out a little....decided to get some self taping screws and put them in the top corners to hold in place! Now i have a hole in my gas tank! Anyone ever patched one? Thanks in advance

Re: plastic patching?
anyone ever used the plastic bonding/patching stuff you can buy at home depot? it says oil and gas impermeable, and also water resistant? also lists for patching gas tanks? i have put on 2 coats so far....haven't tried to hold any gas with it yet....im going to put another coat on in the am and then try tomorrow afternoon!

Re: plastic patching?
I used FAS-WELD plastic repair epoxy putty. Working like a charm 2 years now and no leaks. I bought it at NAPA auto parts store. Good luck.

Re: plastic patching?
ok after 3 rounds of globing this stuff on there, i left it all day with gas in it, and no leaks!!!!!!! went ahead and put a couple pieces of trusty ole duct tape over it just to make me feel better as well! I will update in a couple weeks to let everyone know how it is going!

Re: plastic patching?
I did the same thing what I did was drill put a piece of metal between the tank and the plate . then I drilled a 3/4 inch hole , then took out the metal plate and put in a screw with a rubber washer. worked great
