Default 99 Club Car DS - Jerky start

Simple problem...when I push the gas pedal to the floor...it jerks, moves about 4 inches and stops. I can do this over and over again and it never starts. Sometimes reverse works a little better, but never forward. It is sporadic, but happens most of the time.

When I get off, jack up the rear, it cranks right up. I can get right back on and it starts and I can go. Take it down the road about a 1 mile and good for the rest of the day. Come back the next morning...same issue. Can only start if I jack up the rear.

It has a 6" lift, full rear seat, and larger tires. I tried a new battery with higher "cranking amps" and it did not help. Intially I thought its just is too heavy to start on all 4 wheels (thus the jack up the rear). But, once it gets "warm", I can start just fine. Live in FL and it gets worst the hotter it is outside. In the cool weather, its better sometimes.

Wanted to adjust the carb (also have a new one I have not installed yet), but don't even know if that has anything to do with it. I'm thinking I need a larger starter maybe?

ALSO...it only has full speed and no speed. When I get on the gas...it gets to full speed real quick. But, when I let off the gas...it goes straight to slow. Almost snaps my neck off...big pain. Would prefer a smoother start and smoother slow down. Don't even need brakes, but need a seat belt to keep me from flying through the windshield when I let off the gas!!

Install the new carb... I bet your existing one looks something like this!

Will do and let you know how it goes. Cool pic BTW. It looks exactly like mine w/lift and all except different color (metallic green).

What about ethanol? Do you have to add an additive or try to use gas w/out ethanol? Heard that ethanol can gum up the carb if its been sitting for too long.

You don't have to use an additive if you run the cart pretty often,
but, if it sits for long periods, it's usually a good idea to use something!
I, however... use Seafoam year-round in all my small engines because, then (I feel) I won't have future carb "gunk" problems!
It's really a "to each, his own" thing!

You may have to wait a bit... (a week) but, don't forget to post a pic of your cart!

Check your clutches to make sure they are working correctly. Almost sounds like a broken weight link in the front clutch. As far as go fast then stop that may be a throttle cable adjustment. If you can get pics they would help a bit. If you are close enough to me I could come by and look it over.
