Default 81 g1 clutch weights

Hello, i was checking a old clutch to rebuild, and were the weights ride on it looks like a pc of round emery cloth, its loose, and thick, but its not metal, are these like this? Is it something to put new when u rebuild it? And does plowmans sell rebuilt kits for these old clutchs? Thanks

As far as a few of us whom recently have rebuilt G1 clutches go we have not found a "kit" The weights and steel pins are still available from Yamaha and depending where you buy the parts add up to around a hundred or more.

The weights should be steel and should be fairly tight without too much side to side movement. Plowmans does not sell rebuild kits for these anymore, nor does he rebuild them (talked to him about it 2 weeks ago). Ditto what Charlie said.

The washers you speak of are a plastic/resin material and should be replaced with the pins and weights. They are somewhat loose when new. I don't think anyone stocks these parts and most order from Yamaha when you order from them. Go to your local bike shop and order from Yamaha direct, make sure you have the part #s. I think my cost for all was around $120.
