Default g16 piston/ring removal

i was wondering if the piston can be removed without complete engine disassembly. i was hoping to remove the head and change the valve stem seal and replace rings for a quickie job this weekend, cart is out at the colorado river and temperature is going up quick out there, so im looking to spend a couple hours on the cart.

The cylinder and block are all one piece. Just like a lawn mower engine. You will have to pull the engine out. Un-bolt the side cover. Remove the connecting rod cap and pull the piston and rod out. Get an engine rebulid gasket and seal kit. You might as well check rod clearence and end play while its all apart.

I used to race go karts and use a briggs and stratton motor, we used to modify the crap out of those motors, We would take a 5hp block and get about 18 Hp out of them, and If I remember correctly my max torque range was at about 8500 rpm, Has anyone modifyed there stock motor with a new cam ect?
