Default New Battery Install

Just replaced 4x12 volt batteries in 2007 Club Car. I thought I was thorough drawing a wiring diagram, but getting massive sparp when I connect final negative cable. Batteries are testing around 50 volts so they seem to be wired correctly. Is that much spark normal?

Flip the run/tow switch to tow. Put the cart in Reverse and push the gas peddle down & run the buzzer until it quits, if it sounds? Might help.

Actually, I haven't "connected" the final ground. When I touch it to the terminal, I'm getting the spark. I'm affraid to connect it.
