Default g22e throttle problem

Hi all, i have recently bought a couple of G22e's, 2004 year, one of them has a funny throttle issue. When you first touch the throttle its starts to pull away gently but then as you push the throttle further nothing happens until you reach a point where you have pushed it a long way down and all of a sudden it takes off with a jerk, any ideas what this could be? also what is the best and cheapest option for fitting a battery charge indicator? many thanks for any advice, Nick

The first thing to check is the linkage that activates the throttle sensor. It's a threaded rod that hooks to the accelerator pedal, hopefully the "jam/lock" nuts have come loose, not alowing the correct "throw". Could also be the throttle position sensor or even the controller. Try the linkage first. In my opinion, battery charge indicators are not a good indicator. They read surface voltage. If you base your charging on the meter, you could be left "standed/ and or damage the batteries". There are many more knowledgable about deep cycle batteries than I, but here's my therory ( and I'm sticking to it). Deep cycle cart batteries are not like cell phone batteries, they should "not" be drained fully before charging (some will disagree on this point). With the "automatic" and "fully automatic chargers used on carts now, manufactures (at least Yamaha) recommend charging after every use. Now with an automatic charger, it will complete it's charge cycle, but untill you unplug it from the car and replug it, the charger will not charge again. Fully automatic chargers will complete there charge cycle and as battery voltage drops (and they will just sitting there) they will turn off ant charge as needed. The problem with fully automatic chargers, if the ac power should go out....stops the charging cycle and will not start again till ac power is restored and you unplug and replug back into the car (problem is if the batteries have lost to much voltage, the charger doesn't sence it's plugged into the car and will not start, then time to "force charge the battery set). Sorry guy's for such a long post, just no other way around it. Good luck
