Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
I just purchased a 96 Yamaha g16 and want to lift it but I am getting two different stories from different cart shops. One says to only use the Jakes kit because this is what Yamaha recommends and the other says to use the All sports double A arm kit. If anyone has used these kits I would appreciate any pro's or cons . Thanks

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
They are both good kits. It is true that the Jakes kit is factory "authorized", but the Allsports has it's own advantages. Decide which one meets your riding and budget requirements and go with that...

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
Thanks for the quick responses...I can purchase both kits for about the same money, plan on using a 10" rim with a 22" all-trail tire, do a lot of trail riding..which would perform better and give a smoother ride? Do you have to do any modifications to use either of these kits? Thanks

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
My G16 has a 6" Jakes A-Arm lift, 22" tires on 10" rims. The ride is smooth and no mods were necessary.

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
With 22's the Jakes lift is fine. Look at my profile pics of my cart, thats what I have with all trails on my G-16. But like Flintrock said they are both good kits!

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
I have the allsports kit, rides great and seems to be pretty well built. I was afraid 23's wouldn't clear good offroad with the jake's kit, that was the biggest reason for using allsports.

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
From what I understand, the Allsports is more geared towards the CC's. Their products were designed around their cars. The Jakes are designed around Yamaha's. Personally, I'd go with the lift, designed for the specific brand of car. You loose 1" by going Jakes, but you also have no moving parts in a jakes lift. less to go wrong.

Re: Yamaha g16 Lift kit dilemma
The Jakes tend to be top quality, the Allsports works but is cheaper for a reason.
I thought the Jakes long travel was adjustable? That is the one you mean right? |
