Columbia Differential Leak
I have a 2006 Columbia Par Car Elite. It is at the dealer getting new batteries and they indicated I have a little leak from a seal on the differential. I have noticed it and there are some drops on the garage floor but the area is dry and it is not much. They were highly recommending I get the kit replacement that I guess includes the seal but also a new armature. Sournds like the design from the factory was not good and this kit is an upgrade.
What are your thoughts on this? Should I try to drive it for a while til the leak is more of a problem or get it done now? The repair is not cheap, about $380.00. Thanks |

Re: Columbia Differential Leak
It's not a new armature but a new pinion gear kit. The seal is improved directly from Dana and it won't mount on the old pinion. The kit includes the pinion bearings too. Don't drive if leaking too much because it can get into the motor and damage the motor.

Re: Columbia Differential Leak
I had the kit put in and it did stop the leak. The first time they did it there was a little bit of a noise when there wasn't much torque on the motor but they put in another seal, either a different one or in addition to what was in there to tighten it up a little bit and that did make a difference.
