The controller was not fully identified.

If he has a SPM48400EZ, it has two connectors that has different wiring sequences.

See area circled on attached schematic and read box that is connected to circle.

There could be a problem with this control if the voltage at controller B+ and pin #1 are the same when the solenoid clicks and the cart will not go.
The only other thing to explain the error code would be a big difference in these readings.
Let us know what you find.
If the control needs service I will issue a return authorization.

Just got off the phone with Alltrax, great guys. We isolated the problem in about 5 mins. Voltage at B+ and pin 1 which is Key On on this controller were fine. Problem is the solenoid. I have 50 volts going in and 38 volts coming out. Will at Alltrax said this was the problem. I isolted the solenoid and the cart works and runs great. Drove it for about 30 mins, putting in forward and reverse. I know that I cannot keep it like this, however wanted to ensure the solenoid was the problem like Will said.

So I guess I need a new solenoid. Thanks for all the help. All the things you said to try I had and was exactly what Alltrax said to do before we isolated the solenoid.

So after talking with Will at Alltrax and sending Scotty an email, it looks like he will not warranty his solenoid. Seems crazy after spending a grand, but it is what it is. Thanks guys for all your input. I know I didnt respond to all the posts but I did check what was said and it helped out when I talked with Alltrax. I guess bottom line, if you get the Pre charge failure with the controller, after you check all the other things in this thread, check that voltage in on the solenoid is the same as voltage out. Seems stupid but it took me a long time to get there. Hopefully this post, on a search, will save someone else some time. Thanks again guys.

Make sure the solenoid is the problem and not a symptom.

I am guessing you took measurements with the solenoid not engaged, so that means there must be 25ma of current going thru the resistor to cause the 12v drop you measured.

You could have something miss-wired at the reverse contactor that is causing that parasitic current.

I would leave the solenoid feeding only the B+ on the controller and re-measure that voltage drop across the solenoid to make sure is not being caused by something else.
