If it is a series drive cart (Series wound motor), there are only three ways to increase the speed. (Or some combination of the three.)
1. Go to a higher voltage battery pack.
2. Go to a higher speed final drive ratio. (Tire height plus differential gear ratio equal final drive ratio.)
3. Go to a high-speed motor.

Upping the speed from 12 MPH to 15 MPH is a 25% increase, which is a reasonable goal.

The 956E is a heavy cart and carries 6 people, so you probably don't want to give up any low end torque and going to a higher speed final drive ratio reduces torque by about the same percentage as it increases speed.

High speed motors also tend to sacrifice low end torque for higher top end speed, but there are aftermarket motors that produce about the same as stock torque while producing more top end speed.

Going to a higher pack voltage increases both torque (throughout the RPM spectrum) and increases speed.

IE: Going to a 48V system will up the speed and torque by 33% to give you a top speed of about 16 MPH.

In addition to replacing the 36V battery pack, you'll have to replace the controller and solenoid and get a 48V battery charger.

Thank you for your reply. Going from stock tires (5.7 - to 10 inch rims with 22" tires will it make a difference?

If the stock tire height is 18" (For the numbers you gave, 5.7 is width and 8 is rim diameter - height not given), going to 22" will theoretically increase the speed to 14.7 MPH (If it was 12 MPH on 18" tires), but will reduce the torque where rubber meets road by 18%, so the cart will slow more going up hills and will not accelerate as rapidy.

In a nutshell, all of the knowledge I have about golf carts specifically, was acquired via this forum, or from finding the answers to questions posed on this forum, or research triggered by discussions on this forum.

18% is too high a price to pay! so now I/we are completely rethinking this whole lift kit big tire idea

Option #2 Larger wheel with low profile wheel.

This page says no lift required but I dont see where this is a total of 18" in diameter........will these work on my cart?
