Default Installing digital voltmeter

Just a quick check to be sure. Installing digital voltmeter on 96 DS, series,48 volt. To have it switched, I hook negative (black) direct to pack negative and positive (red) to blue wire side of ignition switch. With the OBC bypassed the amber light is not needed/used. Am I correct on both???

Thanks
