President 12v to 8v conversion
Hello all i am in need of some imput from the forum i just bought a 2005 club car president cart and it needs batteries should I stay with the conventional 12 v batteries or convert to 6 8 volts right now the cart is all stock but i going to install lights and probably turn signal and a horn as well as a radio and amp. And i also have a upgraded controller from club car with a speed set on 4 sooo this leads me to the question of which would be better any imput from those who have done it would be greatly appreciated

Re: President 12v to 8v conversion
Well, what are your needs? 8v have longer run time and slightly greater torque (less voltage drop) but it will absolutely require you to obtain and wire in a voltage reducer for your accessories. You'd want to do that anyway to come from 48v -> 12v instead of pulling your accessory power from one battery. It shortens the life of the whole pack.
If you decide to go 8v, I have a set of 8v battery hold downs from my 2010 that I just converted to Lithium. If you have the budget, I highly recommend that over any FLA setup. |

Everything you need to know about a 4/12 to 6/8 conversion is right here....
I did it earlier this year and it is by far the best thing I've done for my Precedent. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-part-1-a.html |

Re: President 12v to 8v conversion
I put a 12 volt marine battery in the bagwell of my Precedent for lights, stereo and accessories. Works great!
