Default 36 volt DS charger questions

A friend is trying to revive a 36 volt DS that his brother had sitting out in the weather for years. He gave me the charger to check it out, the charger sat in the weather for years too and the transformer is shot. My question is he is looking to buy one of the 36v 5a trickle chargers off of Amazon. Will one of those work I have no experience with them.

Default Re: 36 volt DS charger questions

Short answer is No.
Long answer is the trickle charger can not supply the current necessary to fully charge the pack. They will not ever reach a full charge. The batteries will very quickly be damaged and will never recover. Look into a 36v high frequency smart charger like the YEWY 1200 from ScottyBs CartsUnlimited. That's probably the best budget friendly and reliable charger option on the market right now.

Thanks for the reply I was thinking that he would just be wasting money to get this charger but without any practical knowledge of them I wanted more info.
