Default What can be damaged if cart goes to fast downhill?

Hey fellow club car owners.
I have a 2006 Precedent 48v IQ cart.

I know there is a run / tow switch but wanted to know fro users with experience what can be damaged on the cart if you are traveling at to high of a speed downhill with the tow switch in run?

One of my neighbors owns a 2004 similar and told me he threw his whole motor out going down a hill close to my place a few years ago.

Lol! It will only run in "Run". In Tow, it disables power supplies to protect your controller which disables your regen motor brake and allows you to "Tow" the cart without damaging the motor....

Sepex are RPM limited via the speed sensor. He must have been doing something he shouldn't have to get to an RPM so high that engaging the regen brake damaged the motor.

The motor spins when the wheels spin. Not like a gas car, cart whatever that can be taken out of gear. If it spins fast enough it will come apart. No way to take it out of gear.

Ask any old time truck driver about this too. (Not related to this LOL.)

Over speed of the motor will cause the copper windings on the armature to fly apart. Wrecks the entire motor.

I believe this is exactly what happened to him. I just didn’t know if when going down hill the motor can become a generator and damage other electrical components?
