Default 36 to 48 volt

Currently have 6 6 volt batteries. There are about 4 years old. My plan was to wait until I need new batteries to upgrade to 48 volt. I was curious is I could add in two more 6 volts right now. I’ve heard that it’s a bad idea to add in new batteries to a battery pack but I was wondering if I could maybe buy two reconditioned 6 volts and it work fine. Thanks

I could be wrong... but I believe your biggest problem is that you’ll have to upgrade the controller.

Yeah, not sure if this is a resistor cart or a controller cart, but mixing batteries are always discouraged, but if you are just throwing 2 older ones in there to see how it works, go ahead. As previously mentioned, there are generally more part that do not last long on 48v.

I’m currently upgraded everything to a 48 volt cart. I was just going to run everything on 36 volts until I need new batteries. But I might be able to pick up two cheap used 6 volts

Nothing wrong with this if the controller and solenoid are 48v compatible. Get 2 long (32-36") cables and connect them into the middle of the pack
