Default Cable Replacement?

I am in the middle of a Bad Boy Buggie Classic restoration. I am preparing for paint and have a few things left to clean up before that happens. I have installed brake lights, new led headlights, new brakes, new rear axle, and cleaned up some wiring. I am getting ready to clean the mud caked to the under body. When I was under the cart, I found that some of the cable insulation was cracking and the copper inside was exposed. These were cables running to the motors. I have 1/0 welding cable on hand. Is this a good cable to use to replace the motor cables? I know the welding cable is a heavier gauge than what is currently installed and a heavier cable in general, I was wondering at what point does the weight of the cable outweighs its benefit to the cart in terms of amperage handling?

Use 2g 600 plus strand, not braided speaker wire.
Make sure the jacket is water, fuel, and acid resistant.
2g welding lead will handle 500 plus amps.
I dare anybody to show proof of drawing more than 500 amps

When you are running 2 motors & controllers, plus a big 8x 6v pack (T-145 batteries would be best in that thing & I think average T-105 is lower capacity than it came with originally), weight is pretty much out the window any way. Run them big cables. Big capacity batteries & big cables is what you want. First battery that ever exploded under my a** was a cheap-rate battery in a BBB, and no, I didnt put them in there. (But, yes, those batteries were abused)

There is a huge difference between a "2 gauge" cable, and a "2/0 gauge" cable, 2/0 is a few sizes bigger. (2g, 1g, 0g, 00g, smaller to bigger)

Everyone here saying "I love 2 gauge"? They running 2 motors & 2 controllers? Does that change any opinions?

Bigger better whether it's need or not. Doesn't matter if it's cables, tires, or cup holders. It's deeply ingrained in our DNA

Thanks Yall. The cable is actually 1/0 cable, and its just about double the diameter of 2 AWG cable. Since I already have the cable, I'm gonna use it.
