Default Installing Seat Covers

Looking to install my seat covers this weekend. I plan on using my pneumatic stapler. Does anyone have a size of staple they recommend? What psi should I set my tank and in order to install the seat covers? I know if I have it too high it will just blow through the fabric and deep into the wood.

I have used 1/2” staples with a electric staple gun. Not sure what to set the pressure on a pneumatic stapler. The 1/2” staples hold well for me.

50-60 psi is usually good enough ... not every staple, stapler, seat base is the same. Expect to make some adjustment based upon your results.

I will share a bit of advise Scotty shared with me.....

Toss the covers in the dryer on low heat for a few mins before you start..it makes them sooooooo much more pliable !!!

On my G2 , I used 5/16 staples, at about 80 psi. but it is a plastic, molded seat base.
Try a few, and adjust from there?

I use 5/16 staples and I really should get an air or electric powered stapler, but I use a hand stapler, and I do two or three seats a year.
I only use about 5-600 staples per set. They run out before you know it!

I had to order 5/16” , ‘cause they always had “longer” !
So yes, a box of 500 don’t go that far . . . .

All the above is great advice (although I have never tried the dryer thing). Like FT I use a manual stapler even though I have an electric one. Better to come back and tack them a bit with a hammer instead of going too deep. Also, don't go wild with the staples at first because sometimes you will have to take some out and make adjustments. Helps to have a friend press down on the back to help snug it. I have a block of steel about the size of a shoe box that I use because all of my friends leave when I need help.
