2014 rxv is it safe to unlock the controller
Just found out I can unlock my controller to run 30 plus miles an hour any issues with doing this....

2014 should be the Curtis controller. 2019.5 is around when Curtis started locking them down. Stock tires, 18.5”, will run high 20s. If you go bigger than 20” tires you really need the 350 amp controller. What configuration do you have?

Be careful, there's a guy out there that is hacking RXV controllers to report 5800 RPM at 30 MPH with stock tires. The RXV motor was not designed to survive spinning at over 10K RPM. If the motor grenades, the rear axle locks up and you will likely get injured or killed if it happens at that speed. Stick with what has been safe and proven... The 9600 RPM limit will get you 32- 33 MPH with 20.5" tires, stock tires 26-27 MPH.

While I have spun rxv motors faster than 9600, I would never send one out the door even at 9600 rpm limit. (I have told the boss I wont do it, for anyone) Just for reliability factor. I agree with bob!
That motor is screaming at 9600, first time I ever heard it....its a unique sound for a golf cart motor. |
