Default G29 Weird Shock Mount

I bought a used 2010 G29 cart a couple weeks ago. I found rust on the frame so I am doing a body-off restoration. Here's a bunch of pictures showing how the previous owner connected the front struts.

Has anyone seen this done before? I have no idea why he did it. I'm not familiar enough with the G29 to know if there is frame damage or any reason why it's done this way. It's a 6" Jakes lift.

Would appreciate your feedback. My plan right now is to cut off the angle iron that's welded on and attach the trust's properly.

It looks like he was trying to adjust the camber and ride height by modifying the upper strut mount location. I would be interested to see what your camber looks like when you bolt the strut into the original location.
