Default Club Car DS Code 5 Speed

Aloha Everyone, I have a 2002 DS IQ 48v on 23 inch wheels. My motor is a GE motor type. I went from a speed magnet to a code 5 programmer bought online. I feel the torque difference and I’ve been topping off at about 20 mph. People keep telling me that it should be doing at least 23-26 mph. 20 mph is a big difference from stock but if it should be going faster just wanted to know what’s restricting me.

Wanted to see if anyone has any feedback or suggestions.

I did a load test and I notice if I initially floor it I sometimes get about 42-43v. My batteries aren’t top line but Costco Interstate. 6 - 8V Golf cart batteries.

Below is the results. Fully charged.

Load tested all batteries. Readings are as followed.

7.4, 7.4, 7.5, 7.4, 7.5, 7.5

I appreciate any feedback thought or suggestions.

Just curious, how old are the batteries?

That load test voltage seems to indicate the batteries are not fully charged. I don't think they should go below 7.5 volts. I may be wrong, however. Fortunately you don't have the cold weather battery issues many of us have which can incorrectly lead to lower voltage readings.

Best to check each cell with a hydrometer and see if you show any low cells, especially in the batteries that read 7.4 volts.

BTW, very nice cart you have there!

There are really two different readings that you need from a dead stop floor it and see how low it drops and then once up to speed what the recovery voltage is
BTW those voltages are quite low is your meter clipped right at battery pack

It's a plug-in device, not really a legitimate SC5. Someone in a previous thread had great luck with it and hauled butt until his motor cooked.

Tom47, the batteries are 2 months old bought new from Costco back in December. Not sure if it’s due to the cheaper brand golf batteries. But I am noticing a significant drop. All reading are right when I floor it and then they come right back up to 7.8.
