Default RXV 8 volt trojan post repair

I have repaired battery post on 3 out of 6 batteries in my pack. The last one has come loose and to avoid biting the bullet and buying new ones right now I was wondering is there any kind of putty or adhesive that will bond to the lead that I can put in the hole to hold the bolt in that I previously used the tap and die to install.

I have always used hanger bolts but if you tapped it to a 5/16 you could always go bigger

I think the hanger bolts might be course enough to bite since they're a wood thread. If not maybe wrapping them with fine wire or soft solder would make them bite.

Thinking epoxy, ect. Would not make for a good electrical connections.

Anytime you make a repair such as this, a fine tread tap and bolt would be better as it’s less likely to strip/ come loose due to additional gripping surface assuming it’s not over tightened.
Do you have option of tapping post for next size larger, even if it turns out to be a metric size?

thanks guys I will try some of these ideas and see if one will work. I may be able to place a larger bolt in the hole.

What size bolt and thread to you have in there now that has striped?
another option is a steel tread insert/ heli coil again depending on what size hole you have in it now and “if” battery post will allow you do go larger.

Advantage of a thread insert/ heli coil is you will be tightening new bolt down onto steel threads opposed to softer lead threads.😊

I believe its a 5/16" threaded hole but I was able to get the bolt/stud tightened down so we will see how long it last. I put some soldering wire in the hole for it to bite on.

I see what you did there. For now the battery is still posted and hope it remains posted and I will update this post about my post periodically for other posters with post problems. It will be a post install post post.
