engine swap

can someone tell me if you can swap a g2 or above engine into a 81 g1 cart. would like to put a 4 cycle in it.

A 4-cycle engine can be made to fit a G1, but you will not have reverse gear. Reverse on a G1 is obtained by making the engine turn and run in the opposite direction (counterclockwise for reverse, clockwise for forward). You will need to install a G2 or newer transmission with mechanical reverse gear. This is do-able, but may not be economically feasible. Unless you have something out of the ordinary in mind. If you do, tell us about it. And post pix. We love pix.
