Drive Clutch Spacer
Could I put like a spacer between the starter gen pulley and the drive clutch to push it out so the drive and driven line up?
Background - my driven clutch is further toward the passenger side of the cart then drive is |

Re: Drive Clutch Spacer
Can't do it. The drive clutch is a press-fit clutch. If you try to pull the clutch away from the motor with some kind of spacer, the clutch won't be as secure. The crank nub that the clutch mounts to only sticks out about an inch and a half, and since you would have to move the clutch out about a 1/2", you're losing 1/3 of the mounting area and the clutch may spin off.

Re: Drive Clutch Spacer
The drive clutch as previously noted is pretty much a fixed proposition but you can machine away a little material from the contact area since you (in essence) are retaining the taper. The same is true of the driven clutch but since it is a simple key retained unit it's more effective to make your adjustments in that area. Piece of cake. You should be able to bring the clutches in line pretty easily.

On the driven clutch I suppose it's remotely possible, but again we're talking about 1/2" of machining. I would be worried that losing that much material would then comprimise the structural integrity or even the entire operation of the driven clutch, if there's even 1/2" of material there to machine in the first place. |
