Default Volt meter install on RXV

Can I run the power to a digital volt meter through a rocker switch so it doesn't stay on all the time?

Be careful not to mix AC and DC in the cart.... My Ezgo dealer tells me they connect the meters to the DC pack to avoid any conflict. Your DMM should tell you what type of voltage is running through the F&R rocker..... have you considered a small on/off switch for the meter itself?

Only the three main cables going to the motor are AC. All others are DC. The encoder (tach) is pulsed DC, it might look like ac on a dvm, but you would have to try pretty hard to accidently hook up to that. The F&R is the keyswitch on a RXV, and it runs on 48V DC. Also there is a 6 pin plug inside the dash for the optional factory energy meter that has switched pack voltage and a 0-5v (0%-100%)

From what cgtech is saying, there is the main battery pack + voltage at the key switch. I don't think there is a ground there so you may have to run that back to the pack but the + should be there. Just hook it to the F side of the switch. You could try to get cute and put some diodes in there so it would come on reverse also but I don't think it is worth the risk. Also, make sure it is in Tow before you remove any wires.

I'm thinking that would work. Or just wire it continuous, it won't pull much. Or just put in the factory one, same gauge for the gas cart, like $50-60

I don't want it on all the time. That's why I want to connect to the ignition or a separate rocker switch.

I would not mess with the switch, that is how I have heard everyone fries there controllers. I switched all my accessories over when I added an inverter and used a rocker switch to control the inverter and it works great. Stick to the battery pack install a switch, put it in tow mode and disconnect the main terminal wire first. FYI at first I got a switch with the LED light and man it was bright. Later the light started to flicker on and off eventually burned up the switch. Just get a basic heavy duty switch, guessing the LED was overpowered at 48 volts, lol.
