Default 97 gas club car

Was running fine. Wouldn't turn over bought new battery. Tried to start started smoking for about 5 sec then died. Any suggestions?

Do you think you might have flooded it trying to grt it started? Does it still crank? You may want to take out the spark plug and check if its gas fouled. If it is, clean it up and try again. Also check your oil for fuel in it and change if necessary.

Yes definitely was flooded. Gas was in oil. Pulled spark plug and cleaned. Is there anything else I should check before I try to start? Also changed oil and filter.

how long did it sit. Sounds like the float needle is stuck open.

no just go ahead and start it and see what happens. If there is a problem then you may have to look at carb problems. Hopefully not!

Starter kinda hums for about 5 sec then takes off and runs fine. I replaced brushes 2 yrs ago. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the help.

You nay want to remove the s/g belt and try spinning it by hand to see if its binding at all. Otherwise I would recommend a starter draw test to see how much amperage its requiring off the battery. And make sure your cable connections are all good (tight and clean).
