1997 ClubCar will not charge or run

HELP! 1997 Club Car,

My son was driving the Club Car when it just stopped working. The headlights turn on, but the battery indicator is dark and it will not charge. There is also no alarm when put the cart into reverse. I am new to this and would love some suggestions on things to check like fuses or something? He was driving it a lot, maybe it got hot???

The cart is completely stock

Club Car made (at least) 3 different drive systems and two different voltages for their carts in 1997. You will need to provide a serial number (just above passenger's foot) for someone to help.....or at the very least the following answers:

1) How many volts?
2) Is Fwd/Rev a rocker switch or a lever with a knob?

but ... the first thing to check is all wiring
the battery cables too
