Default home made lift kit

has anyone built a homemade lift for a mid 80s ezgo. i know there are store bought ones out there but i am the kind of person who would rather build it myself. i have a spare front axle laying arount i think i am going to make me a drop axle for it any ideas the one question. when you buy a drop axle is it as wide as the rear axle or do they make up the differance with spacers.

Depending your fab skills and tools, it shouldnt be too hard to do. Drop axles are normally 3-4 inches wider than a stock axle.

Ya gotta make it wider to clear the oversized tires from hittin' the leaf springs at full turn.

This is a drawing of how I do mine. I have yet to need the trailing armsbut would on anything over 6" lift

I cut, flipped and rewelded the spindle arms to put the tierods on top and out of the way.

The back is two plates with 2" sq tubing riser.

This is what I do with rear spring models.
