Wheel Offset question
First time poster here. I've been pouring over the information on this site for the past several days and I'm frankly suffering from information overload. This is a great forum with some very knowledgeable and helpful people. I've learned a lot!!
Here's what I've got: I have a 36 volt EZGO TXT cart which I believe to be a late 90's model (The cart is located at my lake cabin and I need to get down there to get the model number and stuff off the cart but based upon everything I've read it's around that time). I believe it's a series cart and I'm planning to add a 5" lift along with 10" wheels and 22" tires. From everything that I've read, I'll likely need offset wheels which is a principal I understand in theory. The wheels I'm looking at state that they are 3:4 offset. Can someone explain to me what 3:4 means? I'll have plenty of questions to come, but this will get me started. |

Re: Wheel Offset question
Welcome to BGW, I am rather new to carts, however I have learned a great deal from the people on this site. The offset 3:4 means that from the hubor the bolt holes on the rim that the wheel will extend 3" toward the inside of the cart and 4" from the bolt hole toward the outside of the cart. I believe most people use either a 3:4 or a 3:5 offset. Let someone else confirm this before you make the purchase though.

Re: Wheel Offset question
Thanks Oletop...That would make sense since they are 10x7 wheels.

Re: Wheel Offset question
oletop is right on the explanation. I personally have 22's on 8" rims with a 2:4 offset and love them. You need the off set to clear the extended steering arms on the lift kit.
