Default Accellerator Spring

My wife is complaining about the amount of force it takes to depress the accellerator pedal, and frankly I sort of agree with her (don't tell her that though).

It does seem pretty stiff and when I'm driving the cart it does get tiresome depressing it.

Is there a different spring (lighter compression) that can be swapped out for the one that's there now? It's item 15 in the drawing.

Thanks

Lightbulb Re: Accellerator Spring

Is it not like the brake spring and you can make it easy to press by holding the rod and backing off the nut for the tension. After looking closer I don't think it would.

I have not heard this complaint before. Perhaps some lube is needed?

Any Ace hardware, Lowes, Home Depot stores have spring selections in their nut and bolt section. Remove yours and match it up to the same physical size of your spring but with a smaller wire size. Might have to get a tad longer sring to compensate but trial and error.

I agree it is an odd complaint. Search out a source of resistance in the peddle travel?

Cool Re: Accellerator Spring

I have the same problem with a 2004 Par Car I just bought. Seems like you get top speed as soon as you depress the pedal...very jerky taking off.

I had issues with pedal stick. A cleaning and some lube seems to have helped. I think I would clean and lube the entire assembly before I pent any money on new parts.
