Stuck in reverse?
I'm trying to help my neighbor who has a 97 36v ezgo. His description to me was, the F&R assembly was loose or not fastened down well to the cart when they got the cart and he was unaware of it, and while driving it came off and shorted out. Now my neighbor is an electrician, so I feel like he knows how to check the basic wiring issues, so he reconnected it to the cart and made sure all the wires were good after shorting out, but now no matter whether he switches it to forward or reverse it will only move in reverse. Sounded like maybe when it shorted out maybe it messed up the solenoid, but Im no expert, or maybe the F&R assembly has been defected by the short. Any tests or ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Re: Stuck in reverse?
Sounds like either the F&R or the micro switches .......

We can only guess until we know which drive system you are asking about.

Re: Stuck in reverse?
Ok, its a DCS system, and I was mistaken, it was not the F&R assembly that came off it was the solenoid bracket, and it shorted the white wire going to the motor he said...

Re: Stuck in reverse?
That may have fried the controller...
The DCS troubleshooting guide is in the stickies. Since the DCS controller handles the shifting duties it is not an uncommon way for them to fail. Good Luck. |

Re: Stuck in reverse?
And just to clarify, the DCS means it has the seat mounted F&R lever instead of the PDS dash switch correct?

Re: Stuck in reverse?
I hate relaying messages, ok, it is definitely a dcs, so Im going to find a replacement controller and see if it solves the problem, thanks again for the help!
