How far (long) should I be able to drive my 2012 CC DS
Ok guys I need some help here. I have a 2012 CC DS with a Jakes lift kit (street legal). I have taken it back to the dealer I bought if from 3 times.
The first time I took it back was because the turn signals didn't work, the battery light would never come on, charger was getting really hot and one of the brake lights was upside down. They repaired all that was amiss and gave me a new charger. Those problems were fixed but a new one popped up. The second time it went back was because the car would only seem to run about 10 minutes then it would act like it had no power and I would lose my headlights (battery light would come on). They said they can find nothing wrong with it but since the only thing different from the first time they saw it was the new charger they gave me another new charger to rule out a charging issue. The third time they had it was for the same problem. At this point I dont know what to do. They say that there is nothing wrong with it the batteries show good under load testing. I told them that if the batteries are good then why do I lose my headlights so fast. They said there is nothing they can do. The batteries are trojan 12v T-1275. I took the cart out today and drove it with my multimeter hooked up to it to see what the voltage readings were. It started at 50.79V and died at 42.3v at 14.8 miles. A little less that an hour and with no lights on. When it is done charging I am gonna repeat the test this time with the lights on. I have a feeling that something in the lighting circuit is drawing down the batteries. The cart has an L.E.D. lighting system on the front. How long should the batteries be lasting on level roads? The cart average mph is about 17-20 it can hit 27 mph on a slight down hill and seems to average about 22 mph on level rd. Could they have messed something up doing the first repair when they fixed the turn signals and battery light? Today the battery light didn't come on till it was completely dead and I tried to turn the headlights on. When I turned the headlights off the battery light would turn back off. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know what to tell the dealer anymore |

Do you drive 14-15 miles every day? I'f only owned carts for a few years, but sounds like you have a battery problem and dealer should stand behind his product, but also sounds like you are abusing your batteries. Check out the stickies for battery charging.

. . . put a voltage meter in your cart and do not depend on the battery light . . . running the cart down to 42.3 volts is below 10% of charge . . . you may be asking for trouble . . .

Re: How far (long) should I be able to drive my 2012 CC DS
These guys are telling you right. You can run your battery pack down to 10% capacity but the number of times the pack will fully recover is reduced by the amount they are discharged. The Trojan battery company says you can get 5000 shallow discharge cycles from a battery or 700 deep discharges.
Ideally you want to stay on the shallow side and recharge often, even if that means getting a mid day 'opportunity' charge while you eat lunch. Keep in mind the cart is designed for golf. 100 minutes of peddle time easily does 18 holes. This is the expected run time for a stock golf cart. When you put bigger tires on them and bigger motors or increase the draw with lights, etc. run time will decrease. I hope this helps. |

Re: How far (long) should I be able to drive my 2012 CC DS
I have only owned the golf cart a couple of months and out of those months it has been in the shop for a month total. When I first got it it had several problems. The cart is brand new off the show room floor. I have only driven it a few times. When I get off work I would drive it to the mall which is 1 mile from my house. It would sit parked for about 30 minutes while I ate dinner with my wife and then I would drive it home. On the way home I always lose my headlights (they will go dim) and the battery light would come on. This is the first golf cart I have ever owned and I am no expert but It seems that I should be able to go further than 2 miles to the mall and back. I have only driven it 14.8 miles once which was yesterday during the daytime with the lights off and that was just to see how far I can go before it would go with the headlights off. I want to see if there is a problem in the lighting circuit. When I ran it yesterday the battery light never came on. It wasnt till I parked it in the garage and tried the headlights that it would come on but when I turned the headlights off it would go out. I live in a golf cart community as well as a golf cart safe city as long as I stay on 35mph speed limit roads. I bought the golf cart for this purpose. I am just trying to figure out if there is really a problem with the cart or not. I don't know when the battery light is supposed to come on but it seems to me that if the cart is so weak it wont roll anymore that the battery light should come on. Let me know you guys think. This thing only comes with a 3 month warranty and I have a feeling that this dealer is trying to keep me away that long.

It is possible you could be having an issue with one or more of the batteries. Have the dealer perform a battery pack draw down test and post the results here.

They may have been using your cart for customers to test drive everyday and then not charging it. They may have ruined your batteries before you bought it. Also, without saying where u got it, call anotherdealer and get their thoughts. Ultimately, if you have to call club car and Trojan. Even if it turns out there is no problem, U still deserve piece of mind because it is a brand new cart. |

AQ08 is a 2008... CRAP! It's NOT a 2012!
No wonder why your cart shop is only giving you 90 days! Keep bringing it back until he gets it right! |
