Default front tires rubbing

I'm new to all this and have a 98 EZGO TXT lowered 2" with 205/30-14 on it. Have a issue with the front tires rubbing inside fender wells when turning. I've seen that Jakes makes a plate for a club car that moves the front suspension forward 2" to help with this when a cart has been lowered and running bigger tires and rims. Does anyone know if this can be done on a EZGO or have a solution to my problem? I would like to keep it at the same stance and height if all possible. All advice would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

oldschooler, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

EzGo recommends 14" wheel packages (215/35-14) with their 3" lowering kit. I highly doubt it rubs.

If his rubs then the front springs must be worn.

Ideal for use with the E-Z-GO line of 14" Low Profile Tires and Wheels
i think the low profile tires is the key to the lowering

Exactly and all of ezgo's 14" tire and wheel combos use a 215/35-14 tire.
http://www.shopezgo.com/golf-cart/Ti...-Tire-Packages

A 215/35-14 tire is larger then the OP's 205/30-14 he is experiencing rubbing with so his springs may be worn or wheel offset is totally wrong possibly.

Also, the OP stated he has a 2" drop, the ezgo kit drops the cart 3". Less of a drop for his smaller tires. It shouldn't rub unless ezgo is wrong in their specs.

Thanks sportcoupe you was dead on the money! The offset is off on my piece of junk! Hadn't had the body off until you mention about the offset. Found out the frame had been welded on by the guy I got it from. Seems his teenage son had run it off in a ditch thinking it was a 4-wheeler and broke the frame. Because of rust problems he used 3" angle iron to weld it back together, but probably shifted the front suspension back about 1" which will cause the tires to rub inside fender wells. I have the suspension off and looking at a way to shift it forward at least a couple of inches. Gonna go ahead and replace everything underneath with new stuff...floor pan, shocks, bushings, tie rod ends, etc. Sounds like alot to spend on a 98 model, but considering the guy gave it to me to get it out of his yard and I want a nice ride! Hopefully I can post some pics later when I get it all back together........and no it's not a screw-up to lower a cart 2" and put 14" rims and tires on it!
