Default Opinions on battery condition meters

So I have been told by two people now that battery meters on carts are useless? To me it feels like being in the car with no gas gauge? Can anybody give me any direction on this?

Bar graph meters are useless. But an accurate digit voltmeter is indispensable and every cart should come with one.

Examples of digital battery meters

An accurate digital meter will let you know when you are at some % SOC if you translate the nonlinear voltage to SOC. Once you know how it behaves you can predict fairly well how much range you have. I can estimate SOC to about 5% with my Lithium pack based on charge times at a known current. I plan to display SOC along with the volts once I have it pretty well dialed. My meter agrees with my Fluke within .1V

99% of us are running lead acid batteries. Use this scale to know when the cart should be back on the charger. Simple as that

I think the OEM Curtis bar gauge style meters are pretty accurate. Its the aftermarket ones that give them all a bad name IMO. The new thing is the digital battery meters but most people dont even know how to interpret them anyway. If you have a decent set of batteries and plug your cart in everyday like you should you wont have to worry about any of that unless your driving cross country.
