Series or Sepex

I have a 2002 CC DS 36v series motor that I converted to a 48 volt system about 4 years ago. (Thanks Scotty B.!!) It is lifted with a rear seat and 22 inch tires. I have an AXE 4855 in it that is dying

, so I am going to change out the motor and the controller. My question is, should to go to a sep/ex system or stay with the series? I have been reading a lot of threads and it looks as if there are new controllers out that would make the sep/ex a wise choice. I hunt and cruise my property so I want to be able to cruise at slow speeds sometimes, but be able to go fast (20 to 25 mph) at others. Any input or suggestions on motor controller combos are appreciated.

I have a '02 CC DS 48v and it's a sepex/regen type. I have yet to have any issues with it getting hot when cruising slow for pigs. I can cruise at around 19 mph on smoother ground. Plenty of torque for the hills and hauling feed or dead animals.

How do you know that the controller is dying?

Hi Tag50. I called alltrax and described the problem they said that it was most likely that. I have been having a problem with it going dead for no apparent reason. When it works everything looks fine, the yellow led on the controller lights at WOT as it should. When it dies the led turns green but no yellow at WOT.
Sometimes I can go out and try to move it and nothing, no matter what I do. Then about an hour later everything works perfectly. Very frustrating!!

Thanks for the reply. For some reason I thought controllers were an all or nothing deal.

PS-When my Curtis when out it acted like a throttle problem.
