Default RXV Problems

I have an RXV that will run like a champ for about 30 yards then slow to a crawl and will not go good again until I let it sit for a while. It also smells like something is burning yet I can't feel anything overly hot nor can I trace down the smell. Any suggestions?

You must find where the " hot spot " is! I've removed the seat and driven the cart by sitting on the edge, to find electrical problems. Suspect areas are the F - R switch, any of the large cables ( connections and integrity ), and the solenoid. Be careful! These things can get very hot! You can feel these items after a short ride or take a spray bottle with some water in it to spray on the suspect areas. If you smell burning, a bit of water will steam when you hit the bad connection.

I have also noticed a "burning" smell that seems to be coming from the motor. Could the brushes need to be replaced or should I suspect the motor brake? I have not noticed any wires that get abnormally hot, but the car does reduce itself to low/very slow speed after a short drive.

Any suggestions?

To amend my previous post, I would replace the motor brake assembly as two others have suggested! I was originally thinking of an earlier cart. This brake system apparently has issues, as there's tons of complaints about it!

Yes, they are ac. There is a brake assembly that is attached to the motor. This is what we were talking about being faulty.

Is there a way to test the brake assembly or should I just replace it? Also, is there a diagnostics feature on the rxv similar to txt?

I have a 2008 RXV it does the same thing except I usually get about a 1/4 mile before it locks up. Pulled the brake off the motor and it is locked up, just ordered a new assembly, they had the part number memorized as this apparently is a very well known fault on the RXVs.
