Just tried to test but motor did not turn. It does sound like it is trying but not turning. I just used a 12 volt charger set on 75 amp setting. Is that adiquate to get it turning? Also, A1 and A2 are stamped very clearly but S1 and S2 are not. It looks to me like S1 is directly next to A2 and vice versa. That seems different than most diagrams I've seen hear. Any ideas?

Just dawned on me, electric motors run on a magnetic field. since the motor was setting free the armature was making contact with one of the plates surrounding it. put it on the junked cart diff, connected power and wala, it works! Pics tomorrow, it's a thing of beauty! Should get the frame back from the shop tomorrow, ready for reassembly. Beers do help when frustration sets in.

Feels good to get something done and have it work. Did you replace the bearing or use the old one?

I went ahead an used the old one. There was no movement in the armature from sid to side. And now that i know how the thing goes together i could do it in no time. thanks again for your help.
