EZGO hesitates when just after its starts going forward

Hi guys,
My neighbor at our campground has a 95 ezgo electric cart. When he backs out of his driveway and puts the cart in forward the cart goes forward about 20 feet and then you can feel it hesitate for a second then the cart continues to go forward but the top speed seems slightly slower than it was before this started happening. The problem started about 3 weeks ago. It happens every he backs up and then puts in forward. Checked pack voltage and batteries seem fine. Any ideas?

i would look in the f and r area sounds like a melted connection to me after he switches back to forward it take a min to melt back together

does it have a tow run switch on the controller cover?

It does not have a run tow switch. We just tried it again and same results. He puts it in reverse and goes backwards then stops and puts it in forward after it goes forward about 10 to 20 feet it hesitates. We tried it on gravel going slow and it seems like the rear end locked up for a second, it was like someone tapped the brake.

I also did not see anything melted or loose on the forward/reverse switch

well since you have a series cart, it appears the F&R switch might be loosing contact momentarily, causing the hesitation. the first thing I would check or do would be to tighten the shaft nut a bit, that would ensure you have good contact, or at least should.

This is a picture of the front of the F&R switch, the nut on the shaft in the center is on the back side of it.
