Default Driving while in Tow Mode

So I was tinkering with a battery tender today and while doing so I flipped the master switch into Tow mode assuming that it kills the entire electrical system. All went well except for one thing.

I forgot to flip it back to Run. I then hopped on and drove it about a mile to a neighbors house. On the way back everything died like a fuse blew. I was dead in the water. After a little looking I realized I hadn't flipped the Tow/Run switch back to run. My question is how did the cart run at all let alone nearly 2 miles in tow mode? I thought that was a master kill switch like a breaker in a house.

It is not a master kill switch in that it does not disconnect the battery power lead. However, your cart should not have run in that mode. I suspect that the switch must have hung up and it wasn't really in tow mode until it died on you.

This is what I'm thinking. It is a simple rocker switch and i must of had it sitting halfway off/on. Funny, i didn't find this out until I pushed it home a block. These carts are heavy as hell!

I have seen some of the new "rocker switches" used do that.

I know of 2 people in my neighborhood that have had issues with the tow/run switch getting hung up and not switching. Both were 2010 G29's and both of them ended up replacing the tow/run switch. In both instances the switch got hung up in the tow position and they couldn't run their carts.

You can "smack" the switch to un-stick it and get home.

Not the old "toggle switch" (G19-G22-Drive through about 2012), that is no problem. Only the new "rocker switch".... The old "toggle switch" has been quite good unless water/corrosion was allowed inside. (its a silver contact switch). New "rocker switch" is a cheapo.

CGtech I will have to ask the guys that had the switch problem what switch they had in their carts I know that both carts were refurbished in 2012, by the same dealer that I bought my G29 from, It could be that during the refurbish he replaced the switch with the newer rocker style.

That rocker style switch does seem very cheezy. I would prefer a higher quality toggle switch that is more protected from the elements. Mine has not failed me yet but I have never thought much of it.
