2008 Electric Drive Loosing Power??
Hi -
I have a 2008 Yamaha Electric Drive golf cart that I just put 4 new US 12 V batteries in. The batteries that were in there were all from 2011 and when tested were not good. I replaced the batteries because the car was going slow (10-12 mph) and would slow down within a minute of driving, and would slow to almost a crawl on any type of hill. So, I was hopeful that new batteries would fix this. They did not. Seems like when I hit the gas, more power initially, but same slow down occurs. Any suggestions? In searching online the two most common suggestions seem to be (1) bad battery cables or (2) a bad solenoid. Thoughts? Thanks. |

Check your cable connections and see if any are getting hot. Check your battery voltages. Don't assume that new batteries are fine. Check them out.

Ok, checked connections and replaced where the wires looked less than ideal. Confirmed batteries are good. Still loss of power. Solenoid? Something else? Ideas?
thanks. |

Did you change the charger as well?
US Battery requires 117% charge returns and your charger was designed for use with the maroon batteries that came in the car; 110% charge returns. You are undercharging the batteries. |
