2010 Precedent runs with key off
I have a 2010 Precedent and it will drive with the ignition off and no key. I also disconnected the whole ignition harness at the plug in the dash and it will still run. Could it be a faulty controller? Has anyone ever had this issue?

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
Sounds like your solenoid is welded. Take the 2 small wires off of it and then check the top post for continuity. (if you have a pre-charge resistor you will need to lift the controller side of it) If you then have continuity across the 2 big posts, your solenoid has failed internally and will need to be replaced.

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
A welded solenoid would not allow a Precedent to run by itself with the key OFF.
That can only happen if power is being back fed to the Blue wire on the key switch circuit. The most common cause is trying to tap a few batteries for accessories instead of using a 48v->12v converter. If You connect the bucket harness negative wire to anyplace other than the provided 12ga black wire with yellow bullet connector in the battery bucket, You will get that problem. You can easily verify that by disconnecting the pigtail wire with bullet connector that is on the bucket harness 12-pin connector that comes up on the passenger side of the dash. |

I have unhooked the harnesses at the dash and still have that issue. any other ideas. Is it possible it could be a faulty controller

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
Your other message mentioned the ignition harness being disconnected instead of the bucket harness....
The main thing to try is to disconnect the gray wire with a bullet connector that pigtails off the 12-pin bucket harness connector on the passenger side of the dash. If that does not work, make sure the only battery post that has an additional wire is the pack positive post with the charger receptacle positive wire. All other battery posts should only have the heavy cable connected to them. Also, no Solenoid pre-charge resistor with the XCT and the Regen diode banded side goes toward the battery. |

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
I had this issue and if i remember correctly one of the small blue wires on the solenoid was touching the large 2ga wires. Hope that helps.

Dejavu all over again, I do remember that now and he likely has one of those MZJ type solenoids as well

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
I found the headlight kit which doesn't work was tied into battery negative one. I cut the wire and it stopped driving with the key off but it also will not drive e st all now

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
Just to make sure we are on the same page, battery #1 is the pack positive battery.
The bucket harness negative wire should not have any impact on the cart driving ability, but if used, it should be connected to the 12ga black wire with a yellow bullet connector that is available in the battery compartment near the middle. If You don't have a 48v->12v connector installed, make sure you disconnect (or verify that is not connected) the bucket harness blue positive wire which would normally be connected to the +48v pack positive battery post. Make sure you still have power at the key switch and if not check the 15 amp fuse near the controller. |

Re: 2010 Precedent runs with key off
Yes battery 1 is main power. If I connect the bullet ground to the wire that someone added to battery 1 negative the cart drives. If I dont have the bullet hooked up the cart will not run
