Default Club car DS 48 volt

can a Admiral A1 motor be used with a stock controller 48 volt system with good batteries and 4 gauge battery cables ,it is a series motor
if the Admiral won’t work what motor do you suggest for a little more speed without changing the controller the guy doesn’t have a lot of money to invest
Thanks Charlie

Yes, the Admiral A1 can be used with a stock series controller.

the cart runs pretty good on flat ground but going up hills it’s slow
it has a rear seat no lift kit and it has stock size tires on it on it so I can just imagine with two more people on it how slow it would be

It's a series car. Generally speaking, if you put a high speed motor on a cart with a stock controller you're gonna lose a little bit of torque. Torque can be regained by adding a higher amp controller, bigger cables, and a bigger solenoid. That'll help a bit with the uphill speed loss, but no matter what you do it's still gonna lose speed while climbing.

After speaking with you on the phone, we need to figure out why it's only going 12 MPH before we worry about upgrading. Let me know the results of the tests we discussed.

Should a stock series DS (95, black controller) run faster than 12mph? I have mine all torn apart getting ready to put a high speed motor in and a lithium battery pack, but I drove it around for a week before making any changes and the fastest it would go was 12mph.

David knows 10,000 times more than I do about this, but I think about 12 or so is all you will get stock. Maybe a bit more under perfect conditions on a flat smooth surface.

These cars were designed to run 12-14 MPH stock.
